What is a Cubic Yard?

A cubic yard measures how much space something occupies. It is a box that is one yard, or 3 feet, long, wide, and high. A cubic yard has a total of 27 cubic feet. People use this measure for soil, sand, gravel, and concrete. It helps build projects and dispose of waste. You can think of it as a cube where each side is 3 feet long.
