What Wild West Charges
We price on how much of the trailer your junk fills, not on a clock. A full load is 12 cubic yards in a 12ft by 8ft by 4ft dump trailer, which is about five to six full-size pickup beds. Pick whichever fraction below looks closest to your pile. I confirm the real size on site before we lift anything, and if it comes in smaller than you guessed, you pay the smaller number.
What every load price includes
Loading labor, fuel, and the landfill disposal fee are inside all four prices above. A full load means 12 cubic yards hauled in our 12ft by 8ft by 4ft dump trailer with a two-person crew.
The four surcharges, and when they apply
- Stair carry
- $150 on loads up to a half truck load when items have to come up or down stairs. $300 on loads over a half.
- Appliances
- $30 each. Refrigerant recovery and metal recycling get handled separately from the rest of the load.
- Mattresses
- $15 each, which is the California recycling fee we pay at the drop point.
- Extra loading time
- A full load includes one hour of loading with a two-person crew. Past that hour, loading runs $75 per hour, per crew member.
Why I quote before we lift
A sectional coming down from a second-floor condo in Redhawk and a garage of framing scrap in Wolf Creek can look like the same pile in a photo, then price out $300 apart once stairs and weight are in play. So you get a firm number, surcharges included, while we are both standing in the driveway. No meter running, nothing tacked on after the trailer is loaded.
What's Included
What the Price Covers, and What It Doesn't
The number you get quoted is the number you pay. It covers the guys doing the carrying, the fuel out to your place and over to the landfill, and the tipping fee once we get there. No separate fuel charge. No disposal fee appearing at the curb once your junk is already sitting on my trailer.
The exceptions are printed right above instead of buried in fine print. Stairs, appliances, mattresses, and loading that runs past the included hour each carry a set number, and you hear about them before we start. Weight is the other one. Concrete, dirt, and roofing tile cost a lot more to dump than a trailer of furniture, because the landfill bills by the ton. If that is most of your load, I tell you in the driveway.

What we cannot take at any price
Paint, solvents, motor oil, pool chemicals, propane tanks, and asbestos are hazardous waste. Those have to go through Riverside County's free household hazardous waste program and no amount of money gets us around it. Ask and I will point you at the nearest collection event.

For remodels, whole-home cleanouts, and contractor jobs where you would rather load at your own pace, we drop a 40-yard roll-off. That is the only size we carry. Out here it is the one that actually pencils out, because the smaller cans fill up on day two of a Temecula Valley renovation and then you are paying for a second haul.

Sizing
What Is a Cubic Yard?
Think of a box the size of the carton a refrigerator ships in. Three feet wide, three feet deep, three feet tall. That is one cubic yard, or 27 cubic feet. Haulers, landscapers, and concrete crews all measure in it, which is why we price in it too.
Knowing roughly how many cubic yards your pile takes up puts you on the right load size before you even call. Measure the length, width, and height of the space in feet, multiply the three, divide by 27. A pile four feet wide, four feet deep, and three feet high comes out just under two cubic yards, comfortably inside a quarter load.
Odd shapes and sloppy stacking make this an estimate, not a science, which is the other reason I confirm the real number on site. If you would rather skip the math, a photo text gets you the same answer in about two minutes.

Pile it up
Pull everything you want gone into one spot so you can see it all at once. Junk spread across three rooms always looks smaller than it is.
Count pickup beds
A full-size pickup bed holds about 2 to 2.5 cubic yards. One of our full loads is roughly five to six of those beds.
Match the fraction
Use the cards above. 3 yards is a quarter, 6 is a half, 9 is three-quarters, 12 is full.

Why Junk Removal Costs What It Costs
People are surprised that hauling one couch runs more than a tank of gas, so here is where the money actually goes. Roughly a third of any load price is the disposal itself. The landfill weighs us at the gate and bills by the ton, and Riverside County publishes those rates in the open, plus a surcharge for anyone who shows up with an uncovered load. The current gate fees are on the county's routine waste page. Nobody hauling legally gets around that line item.
The rest is labor, the truck, the insurance, and the sorting. We pull donations and metal out before the load gets tipped, which costs me time and saves you nothing directly. It is also the reason the tonnage going into the hole keeps dropping. California's diversion targets, set by CalRecycle, are why that sorting is not optional for anyone doing this the right way.
And here is what most haulers will not put on their pricing page: sometimes you should not hire us at all. City of Temecula residents get two free bulky item pickups a year from CR&R, two items per call. If your job is one couch and a mattress and you can wait for the scheduled day, use it. Because the drive out, the crew, and the round trip to the landfill cost the same whether the trailer comes back stuffed or barely used. A quarter load works out to about $65 per cubic yard. A full load at $595 is closer to $50. If you are within a few feet of the next size up, throw the rest in. It is almost always the better buy.
