The difference
A hoarding cleanout is not a bigger version of a normal junk pickup
A standard haul is one room, one item, one trailer. A hoarded property is a long run of decisions made under pressure, usually with a deadline attached, and usually with somebody in the house who isn't ready for any of it. The lifting turns out to be the easy half.
Here's what actually makes these jobs run differently:
- Nothing has been sorted yet. Deeds, birth certificates, cash, jewelry and medication show up buried in bags that look like trash from two feet away. Everything gets a second look before it goes on the trailer.
- Access is the first problem to solve. Blocked hallways and doors mean our first few hours go into cutting a path, not filling loads.
- Weight is hard to eyeball. Paper, books and water-damaged textiles run far heavier than they look, and that changes the load count.
- Conditions can move the scope. Rodent activity, mold behind stacks and soft flooring usually surface only once material comes off the walls.
- It takes days. A full house in Temecula or Murrieta typically runs several trailer loads spread across a few working days.
Why we won't quote one of these over the phone
A photo of a front room tells us almost nothing about what's stacked behind it. The on-site walk-through is free, takes about twenty minutes, and it's the only way we can hand you a load count that holds up.
The part most companies skip
The person in the house gets a say in the pace
Hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition. The Mayo Clinic describes it as an ongoing difficulty parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them, and the distress that comes with discarding is real distress. Pushing somebody through that doesn't speed the cleanout up. In our experience it's the single most common reason a cleanout stops halfway.
So we work a particular way. Items leave in the categories you set, not the ones we'd assume on our own. If a decision stalls, that item goes on a hold pile and we keep moving instead of standing in a hallway arguing about a lamp. If a family member wants to be present for every load, fine. If the homeowner would rather sit out front with a neighbor while we work, that's fine too.
We're a junk removal company and we don't pretend to be anything else. Families who want clinical support running alongside the cleanout can find treatment resources through the International OCD Foundation's Hoarding Center. Our job is making sure the physical side gets finished without making the rest of it worse.
From the owner
The person who walks your property
Weston Molitor
Founder, Wild West Junk RemovalWeston started Wild West Junk Removal in Temecula in 2021 and still runs the walk-through on hoarding jobs himself, because pricing a house like this off a phone description isn't something he's willing to do.
These calls almost never come from the person living in the house. They come from a daughter, a landlord, or an agent who's run out of options. My rule for the crew is short: work quiet, hand back anything that looks like it matters, and nobody says a word about the house. People remember how they got treated on the worst day inside their own home.
How it runs
Six steps from first call to swept floor
Phone intake
Five minutes on property size, access, the deadline, and who has authority to decide what leaves. Call or text photos to (951) 837-8072.
On-site walk-through
We walk every room we can physically reach, flag anything outside our scope, and count the likely loads. No charge and no obligation.
Written estimate
You get the load count, the day count, and every add-on in writing before we start. Stairs, appliances and mattresses are listed up front instead of sprung on you at the end.
Pathways first
Day one opens the entry, the main hallway and one exit route. Everything after that gets faster and a lot safer, for our crew and for you.
Zone-by-zone sorting
One room at a time, sorted into keep, donate, recycle and haul. Documents, photographs and valuables come to you rather than onto the trailer.
Sweep and hand back
Floors swept, trailer gone, and a plain-language summary of anything we uncovered that a contractor or specialist should look at.
In scope
What comes out of a hoarded property
Furniture and mattresses
Couches, bed frames, dressers and mattresses, including pieces we have to break down in place just to clear a doorway.
Mattress removalBagged household waste
Years of accumulated bags, boxes, packaging, junk mail and paper stacks, hauled out by the trailer load.
Appliances and electronics
Refrigerators, freezers, washers, televisions and computers, routed into the correct disposal stream instead of the landfill.
Appliance removalTextiles and soft goods
Clothing, linens, curtains and rugs. Clean, wearable items go to local donation partners whenever the condition allows it.
Garage, shed and yard
Tools, lumber, tires, pots, green waste, and the overflow that migrates into side yards once the house itself fills up.
Garage cleanoutsStorage units and vehicles
Off-site units around Temecula and Murrieta, plus packed cars and trailers that come with the same property.

What we will not quietly haul away
Plenty of companies advertise biohazard hoarding cleanup without holding the registration California requires to do it. We'd rather tell you where our line sits, inspect the property honestly, and point you at the right specialist so the job still gets finished.
Human blood and body fluids
Removing this as a paid service requires registration with the California Department of Public Health as a Trauma Scene Waste Management Practitioner. We aren't registered for it, and we won't pretend a mop makes it legal.
Heavy animal waste
Once urine has soaked into subfloor or drywall, removal has become remediation. That belongs to a restoration contractor, and the demolition has to happen before we haul the debris.
Sharps and medications
Needles and unknown prescriptions need approved sharps containers and a pharmacy or county take-back program. A trailer is the wrong answer.
Chemicals, paint and fuel
Landfills won't accept household hazardous waste. Riverside County runs free HHW collection for residents at (800) 304-2226.
Suspected asbestos or lead
Common in older flooring, popcorn ceilings and pipe wrap. Disturbing it calls for a certified abatement contractor ahead of any debris removal.
Active mold behind clutter
We can uncover it and show you where it is. Killing it and rebuilding the wall is remediation work, and doing that in the wrong order costs you the money twice.
If we find any of the above on the walk-through, you hear about it that day. We'll still quote the portion we can legally do, and we'll sequence our work around the specialist so you aren't paying two crews to stand around waiting on each other.
Your options
Three ways this usually gets handled
| Consideration | Doing it yourself | A roll-off dumpster | Wild West Junk Removal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the lifting | You and whoever you can recruit | You, for every single item | Our two-person crew |
| Typical timeline | Weeks to months, and it often stalls | Capped by the rental period | Several loads across a few working days |
| Sorting for keeps | Yours to manage | Yours to manage | Zone by zone, with a hold pile |
| Donation and recycling | Separate trips you arrange | Everything rides to the landfill | Separated and routed for you |
| HOA and street impact | Cars and piles in the driveway | Container sits for days, permits may apply | Trailer arrives and leaves the same day |
| Best when | The clutter is one room and nobody's in distress | You have labor and a long window | There's a deadline, a hazard, or nobody able to lift it |
A dumpster rental really is the cheaper answer on some jobs. If your walk-through says that, we'll tell you.
Straight numbers
You pay our standard load pricing, not a hoarding surcharge
There's no separate rate for these jobs. A hoarded property simply fills more loads than a single-item pickup, and we count those loads with you during the walk-through so the total sits on paper before we start.

What can change the price
- Stairs
- $150 on loads up to one-half truck load, $300 on loads over one-half truck load, for carrying items up or down stairs. Tell us the floor level when you call and the figure goes in your written estimate.
- Appliances
- $30 each. Covers refrigerant handling and the separate disposal stream refrigerators, freezers and AC units legally require.
- Mattresses
- $15 each, any size.
- Extra loading time
- A full load includes one hour of loading. Beyond that hour, $75 per hour per crew member.
- What a full load means
- 12 cubic yards in a 12ft x 8ft x 4ft dump trailer, loaded by a two-person crew.
Labor, loading, hauling, disposal fees and sweep-up are included in every load price. Compare against our published junk removal pricing for context.
Before we arrive
Six decisions that make day one go smoothly
Name one decision-maker. One person with final say on what leaves. Three relatives with three opinions is what stalls these jobs, far more often than the volume does.
Pick a keep room. Choose one room or corner nothing gets removed from. It gives the homeowner a fixed point and it cuts the anxiety noticeably.
Flag the paperwork early. Tell us what to watch for: titles, deeds, military records, photo albums, one specific box. We hand those over as they surface.
Plan for pets. Doors stay open for hours at a time. Cats in particular need to be shut in a bathroom or moved off site before the crew starts.
Clear the driveway and check HOA rules. The trailer needs a spot close to the door, and some Temecula and Murrieta associations restrict where it can sit and for how long.
Tell us the real deadline. Escrow date, court date, inspection, family flying in. We build the load schedule backward from whatever it is.
Coverage
Hoarding cleanouts across the Temecula Valley
Our crews run out of 41713 Niblick Rd in Temecula, so response times across the valley stay short and same-day walk-throughs are usually available. Working locally also means we already know the gate and HOA access rules in most of these communities, and which Riverside County facility each material stream has to go to.

Questions we get
Hoarding cleanout questions
The questions families, property managers and agents ask us most before booking a hoarder house cleanout.
Wild West Junk Removal prices hoarding cleanouts in Temecula by trailer volume, the same way we price every other job. A quarter load is $195 and is our minimum, roughly 3 cubic yards. A half load is $350, three-quarter is $495, and a full 12-cubic-yard load is $595. A hoarded house normally takes several full loads, so the honest answer is that the total depends on how many, which we count with you during the free walk-through and put in writing. Call (951) 837-8072 to get on the schedule for one.
No. Wild West Junk Removal has no separate hoarding rate. You pay the same load-size pricing as any other job, plus the same add-ons for stairs, appliances, mattresses and loading time past the first hour. A hoarded property simply fills more loads, so we count them with you on site and put the total in writing before anything moves.
Wild West Junk Removal is open Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, and closed Sunday. We have same-day slots most days for the free walk-through, and once you approve the written estimate most hoarding cleanouts start within a few days. Call early in the day for the best shot at a same-day visit. If you're working against an eviction, escrow or court deadline in Temecula or Murrieta, tell us the date and we build the load schedule backward from it.
No. Nothing leaves the property until you, or the person you designate, says so. Wild West Junk Removal works zone by zone and sets aside anything flagged as keep, donate or review, and if a decision stalls the item goes on a hold pile instead of onto the trailer. Paperwork, photographs, cash and jewelry turn up on almost every hoarding job in Temecula, and those come straight back to you.
A single cluttered room is usually a half day. A full house with blocked pathways generally runs two to five working days across several trailer loads. Wild West Junk Removal gives you a day count in the written estimate along with the load count, so you can plan access, pets and time off work before we start rather than finding out as we go.
Not directly. California regulates trauma scene waste separately, and that work requires registration with the state as a Trauma Scene Waste Management Practitioner, which Wild West Junk Removal does not hold. We inspect first, tell you plainly what falls outside our scope, quote the part we can legally do, and coordinate with a licensed specialist so the property still gets finished.
Yes. Wild West Junk Removal schedules around neighbors where we can, loads from the closest access point, and our crew does not discuss the property with anyone but you. Every job runs with a two-person crew and one trailer rather than a line of marked vehicles parked down the street. Discretion is the reason a lot of Temecula families call us instead of a national chain.
Fast. Wild West Junk Removal can usually walk the unit within a day or two of your call and begin the same week. We're open Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm. Tell us the turnover deadline up front and we build the load schedule backward from it so the unit is empty and swept before your date. We handle these across Temecula, Murrieta and Menifee alongside our tenant turnover cleanouts. Call (951) 837-8072.
No, but somebody with authority to make decisions does. On most hoarding cleanouts in Temecula that's an adult child, an executor, a trustee or a property manager rather than the homeowner. Plenty of homeowners would rather wait outside or at a neighbor's house while we work, and that's completely normal. What we need is one named person we can call when something needs a yes or a no.
It happens, and we plan for it. Wild West Junk Removal stops on that item, sets it on the hold pile, and moves to the next zone instead of standing in a hallway arguing about it. Hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition and the distress around discarding is real, so forcing the issue tends to end the cleanout rather than speed it up. Loads already counted stay counted, and we revisit the hold pile at the end of the day.
Yes. A garage or a storage unit is often the only zone a homeowner will agree to start with, and it's a workable way in. Wild West Junk Removal will quote and clear the garage, shed, side yard or an off-site unit in Temecula or Murrieta on its own, and you can decide about the interior later. Quite a few of our full-house hoarding cleanouts started as a single garage.
Wild West Junk Removal covers Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Winchester, French Valley, Hemet, Fallbrook and Rainbow. Our crews work out of 41713 Niblick Rd in Temecula, so response times across Southwest Riverside County are short. Call (951) 837-8072 to confirm coverage for a specific address.
Usable furniture, housewares and clothing go to local donation partners around the Temecula Valley. Metal, cardboard, electronics, mattresses and green waste go into the appropriate recycling or transfer stream. Only what's left after that goes to the landfill. Wild West Junk Removal sorts as we load rather than sending the whole trailer to one place, which is why a hoarding cleanout diverts more than people expect.
Start with a walk-through, not a commitment
Tell us the property, the deadline and who's involved. The on-site estimate is free, the load count is honest, and you decide what happens after that. We're open Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, closed Sunday.
