Mattress Removal in Temecula
One mattress is $210 all-in: our $195 minimum load plus the $15 mattress fee. The box spring rides along at no extra fee. Text a photo to (951) 837-8072 and we'll carry it out from wherever it sits, same day most days, and take it to a mattress recycler instead of the landfill.

Mattress Removal Cost
How Much Does Mattress Removal Cost in Temecula?
One mattress costs $210, any size, carried out from anywhere in the house. That's our $195 quarter-load minimum plus the $15 mattress fee. Box springs carry no fee, so a mattress with its box spring is still $210. From an upstairs bedroom with no elevator, add the $150 stair charge: $360. Bigger jobs use the same four load sizes as everything else we haul, and the price you hear before we lift is the price you pay.
Quarter Load
3 cubic yards
$195
Minimum pickup, plus $15 per mattress
One Mattress: $210
Half Load
6 cubic yards
$350
About three full-size pickup beds.
Three-Quarter Load
9 cubic yards
$495
About four to five full-size pickup beds.
Full Load
12 cubic yards
$595
About five to six full-size pickup beds.
Every price includes a two-person crew, the carry from wherever the bed is, taking the frame and headboard apart, fuel, and the drop at the recycler. No deposit and no fuel charge. A long carry from a back bedroom doesn't cost a dime more than a mattress sitting in the garage.
Add-ons, stated before we load
- Mattresses
- $15 per mattress, any size. Box springs carry no fee but count toward the load volume. A king on two box springs is one $15 fee; a split king with two mattresses is two.
- Stairs
- $150 on loads under 7 cubic yards, $300 on loads of 7 cubic yards or more, whether we're carrying up or down. No stair charge if the building has an elevator we can use.
- Appliances
- $30 each for a fridge, freezer, or AC unit riding in the same load.
- Extra loading time
- A full load includes one hour of loading. Past that, $75 per hour per crew member.
A full load is 12 cubic yards in our 12ft × 8ft × 4ft dump trailer, loaded by a two-person crew.
Here's how the number works. Text a photo and I'll give you a load size and a firm price before we roll out. On site I confirm what the photo showed. If it comes in smaller, you pay the smaller price. If the pile grew, I re-quote before anything goes on the trailer. Nothing gets added after loading starts, and there's no deposit.
The full ladder and every surcharge are on the junk removal prices page. Prices current as of October 2026.
What We Take
What Mattresses and Bed Parts Will You Haul?
Any mattress, any size, any age, from any room: twin through California king, innerspring, memory foam, hybrid, latex, pillow-top. Box springs, foundations, frames, headboards, and adjustable bases go in the same trip. The only mattress we won't load is one with live bed bugs in it.
Mattresses, every size
Twin, full, queen, king, and Cal king. The guest-room mattress nobody has slept on since 2019 and the one you replaced last night. $15 each on top of the load.
Box springs and foundations
Box springs, low-profile foundations, and split king foundations. Each piece counts once for the $15 fee, so a king on a split foundation is two foundation pieces plus the mattress.
Frames and headboards
Metal rails, wood headboards, footboards, canopy frames, daybeds. These ride as furniture, with no per-piece fee, just the room they take. If they won't come out in one piece, we take them apart.
Adjustable bases
Motorized bases are heavy and awkward on stairs. Unplug it and lower it flat before we come. It's priced on volume like any other piece, not as a mattress.
The rest of the bedroom
Dresser, nightstands, the armoire that came with the house. Adding them to the same trip costs less than a second visit ever would. More on that under furniture removal.
Rentals and turnovers
Mattresses a tenant left behind, short-term rental swaps, a vacant unit between leases. Approve the price by text and we can work from a lockbox. Several units at once? See tenant turnover cleanouts.
What has to happen before we load it
We won't load a mattress with live bed bugs. It spreads them to the next house on the route, and drop-off sites and donation programs won't take it either. Get it treated, bag it, then call. The bed bug mattress guide walks through the order.
- Rodents or fleas. A mattress that's been in a shed or a detached garage sometimes has a nest in it. Seal it in heavy plastic first and we'll take it.
- Mold or water damage. We take it. It just can't go to the recycler, so it goes to a permitted landfill. Bag it if you can, and say so when you text.
- Stains. Normal. They don't change anything about the pickup or the price.
How It Works
How Does a Mattress Pickup Work?
You text a photo, I text back a price, and you pick a window. Book before noon and we can usually come the same day, Monday through Saturday. The crew carries it out, sweeps where it sat, and the mattress goes to a recycler.
Text a photo
Send the count, the sizes, and which floor to (951) 837-8072. Mention the box springs, the frame, and anything else that's leaving with it.
Get a firm price
I text back the load size and the number. No deposit, nothing to sign to hold the slot.
Pick a window
Same day most days if you book before noon, next day almost always. The crew calls about fifteen minutes out. Send the gate code or unit number when you book.
Confirm at the door
We check it against the photo. Smaller than the photo means a smaller price. Bigger means I re-quote before anything moves.
Carry, load, sweep
On edge through doorways, one of us at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom. Then we sweep where the bed stood.
Drop at the recycler
A mattress in decent shape goes to a recycler, not the landfill. The price on your invoice is the one you approved.
A queen mattress weighs less than people think. It's the shape that gets you. It won't hold a fold, it won't take a corner, and it wants to slide off whoever's holding the low end. That's how railings get cracked and how people tweak a back on the landing.
So we don't wrestle it. It goes out on its side, the top person steers and the bottom person carries the weight, and a strap goes on the ones that sag in the middle. Box springs are the easy part. They're stiff, so they go out flat and fast.
If you want to try it yourself first, read how to move a mattress by yourself before you start down the stairs. It covers the point where it stops being worth your back.
What Changes the Price
What Makes a Mattress Pickup Cost More?
Three things move a mattress price: stairs, how many pieces you have, and whether the job tips from a quarter load into a half. Size doesn't. A king is the same $15 as a twin, and same-day pickup costs the same as next week.
Stairs
This is the big one. One mattress from a second-floor bedroom with no elevator is $360, because the stair carry adds $150. If the bed is on the ground floor, in the garage, or in a building with an elevator we can use, you don't pay it. Some people carry it down themselves the night before to save the $150. That's your call, and the guide linked above will tell you honestly whether it's a two-person job.
How many pieces
Every mattress is $15, so count them before you text. Box springs and foundations carry no fee, but they take room in the trailer. A king on two box springs is one $15 fee; a split king with two mattresses is two. Frames and headboards don't count as pieces.
Load size
One bed set with its frame fits in the $195 minimum. Two sets, or one set plus the dresser and nightstands, can push it into a half load. If you're close to the line, look around for anything else that's been waiting to go. Once you're in the half-load bracket, the extra room is already paid for.
What I need to see in the photo
- ✓How many mattresses and box springs, and whether it's a split king with two mattresses.
- ✓Which floor it's on, and whether there's an elevator.
- ✓Anything else leaving in the same trip.
- ✓The condition: water, mold, or anything living in it. I'd rather hear it in the text than at the door.
- ✓Gate codes, unit numbers, and where a 12-foot trailer can park.
What doesn't change the price: same-day versus next week, a long carry from the back of the house, and which city you're in. The ladder is the same from Temecula to Lake Elsinore.
Free Options
Can I Get Rid of a Mattress for Free in Temecula?
Often, yes. If a new mattress is being delivered, California law requires the store to offer to take your old one at no charge. If you live in the City of Temecula and the mattress can wait at the curb, CR&R picks up bulky items for free twice a year. And if you can haul it yourself, Bye Bye Mattress drop-off sites take it free. I'll tell you which one fits when you call.
| Option | Cost | Works when | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store take-back | Free | You're buying a new mattress and it's being delivered | The retailer has to offer it under California's mattress law, for the unit being replaced. If it shipped in a box by carrier, the retailer has up to 30 days to arrange the pickup. They can refuse one that's a health or safety risk. |
| CR&R bulky-item pickup | Free, twice a year | You live in the City of Temecula and it can sit at the curb until your scheduled day | Call CR&R at (800) 755-8112 ahead of time, per the City of Temecula. It has to be curbside, and it uses up one of your two pickups for the year. Other cities run their own programs, and apartment residents should ask the property manager. |
| Drop-off site | Free | You have a pickup truck and a helper | Find a participating site on ByeByeMattress.com and call first. Hours and unit limits vary by site. A queen won't fit in a car or most SUVs. |
| Donation | Free | It's clean, sound, and stain-free | Most charities around here won't take a used mattress. Call before you load it up. |
| Wild West | From $210 | It's upstairs, it can't wait, there's more than the free option covers, or you'd rather not carry it | You're paying for the carry and the trip. That's the trade. |
If the store is delivering your new mattress, let them take the old one. It's free, and I'll tell you the same thing if you call me first. Where we come in is the mattress the store won't take: the guest room's, the one in the garage, the one a tenant left, or the one upstairs that has to be gone before Saturday.
What about leaving it on the curb?
Not on a regular trash day. A mattress doesn't go in the carts, so one put out without a scheduled bulky pickup just sits there. Leaving it on a vacant lot, a roadside, or someone else's property is illegal dumping under California Penal Code 374.3, which carries a mandatory fine starting at $250 and climbing with each repeat conviction. Schedule the free pickup or call us. Either one is legal.
Where It Goes
What Happens to the Mattress After Pickup?
A mattress in recyclable shape goes to a recycler in California's Bye Bye Mattress program, where it's taken apart into steel, foam, fiber, and wood. CalRecycle puts a used mattress at 75 to 90 percent recyclable by weight. The ones that can't be recycled, the soaked and moldy ones, go to a permitted landfill.
Steel springs
Coils and box spring frames go to scrap steel. It's the most valuable thing in an old bed.
Foam
Shredded and bonded into carpet padding. The pad under someone's new carpet may have been a mattress once.
Fiber and fabric
Ticking, quilting, and cotton batting become filters and other industrial fiber products.
Wood
Box spring lumber gets chipped into mulch. Most people are surprised that a box spring is mostly clean wood.
California built this system because mattresses kept ending up dumped. The state's mattress stewardship program is paid for by a recycling fee on every new mattress sold here. That fee is why drop-off sites can take your old one for free.
A clean, sound mattress sometimes goes to a donation partner instead. Most used ones don't qualify, and I won't promise it. If yours looks close to new, say so and I'll ask before it goes on the trailer. Our donation and recycling page lists who we drive to and what they refuse.
Who Shows Up
Who Shows Up to Carry It Out?
A two-person Wild West crew out of Temecula. Not a franchise dispatcher and not a gig driver with a pickup. I started the company in 2021 and I still answer the phone.
Weston Molitor
Founder · Wild West Junk Removal · Temecula, CAI started Wild West Junk Removal in Temecula in 2021. We're family-owned, licensed and insured, and we've hauled more than 5,000 loads since then out of 41713 Niblick Rd.
Mattress jobs are small, and I like them that way. They're also where you find out whether a crew knows how to carry. A good one gets a king down a turning staircase without touching the wall. I'd rather spend two minutes planning the route than five minutes patching drywall.
If your store is delivering a new mattress, let them take the old one. Call me for everything they won't.
"A king is the same $15 as a twin. What costs you is the stairs, so tell me about them before we come, not when we're standing at the bottom."

★★★★★
I must say, I was quite skeptical about using a junk removal service at my age, but I couldn’t be happier with the results! The team was incredibly polite and patient, taking the time to explain everything. They worked efficiently, and I didn’t have to lift a finger. They even helped me move a few sentimental items I wanted to keep. Such a relief to have a clutter-free home. Highly recommend!
FAQ
What Else Do People Ask About Mattress Pickup?
Every mattress, any size, is $15. Box springs and foundations carry no fee, but they count toward the load volume. A king on two box springs is one $15 fee; a split king with two mattresses is two. Frames, rails, headboards, and adjustable bases aren't charged per piece. They're priced by the room they take in the trailer.
Yes. We pick up from wherever it is, whether that's the curb, the side yard, the garage, or a back bedroom, and a long carry doesn't add anything. If it's been sitting out in the rain, mention it, because a soaked mattress goes to the landfill instead of the recycler.
No, unless it's had bed bugs, rodents, or fleas. A clean mattress is easier to carry without plastic, and the recycler has to strip it off anyway. If it was treated for bed bugs, seal it in a mattress bag and tell me when you text.
Yes, as long as nothing is living in it. Stains don't change anything. A moldy or soaked mattress can't go to the recycler, so it goes to a permitted landfill, and it helps if it's bagged. The price is the same either way.
Yes. Approve the price by phone or text from the photo, send the lockbox code and unit number, and we'll handle it without anyone there. We let you know when it's loaded and swept.
The same way as one: the load size they fill plus $15 for each mattress. Box springs carry no fee, but they count toward the load. Mattresses take a lot of room for what they weigh, so a dozen sets is more than one trailer. Send photos and I'll give you the load count and the total. If you manage apartments and deal with abandoned mattresses every month, the Mattress Recycling Council also has county coordinators for multi-family properties.
Yes. Unplug it and lower it flat before we come if you can. It rides in the same load as the mattress and it's priced on the room it takes, not as a mattress.
Yes, breakdown is included. Most metal frames and headboards come apart in a few minutes with the crew's tools. A bolted wood bed or a canopy frame takes a little longer, and it's still the same price.
Yes. Tell me the delivery window and we'll book behind it. But if the store is delivering, ask them to take the old one first, because California requires the retailer to offer that at no charge. Call us for the ones they won't take.
Yes. We run pickups Monday through Saturday, 7AM to 7PM, and we're closed Sunday. Same-day slots go first, so text early in the day if you want one.
No. Prices are the same in Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar, Winchester, French Valley, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, and Hemet, and we also run out to De Luz, Rainbow, and Fallbrook. A single mattress is $210 in any of them.
