Mattress Removal
Mattresses, box springs, adjustable bed bases, futons, and mattress toppers are items we remove daily. In California, the Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act (SB 254) created a statewide recycling program specifically because mattresses are one of the bulkiest and most commonly illegally dumped items in the state. Retailers are required to offer take-back when delivering a new mattress, but if you are not buying new — if you just need that old king-size gone — the program does not help you. That is where we come in. We carry the mattress out from whatever room it is in, load it, and route it to a Mattress Recycling Council collection point where steel springs, foam, cotton, and wood get separated for recycling. The Exceptions
What We Cannot Take
There is a short list of items we cannot haul because California law requires them to be handled by licensed hazardous waste transporters with specialized equipment, manifests, and disposal permits. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) regulates these materials, and handling them without the proper certification exposes both you and us to serious liability. Here is what we cannot accept:
Paint & Solvents
Latex paint, oil-based paint, spray cans, paint thinner, turpentine, and lacquer. These are classified as household hazardous waste in California. The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources holds free collection events throughout the year for Temecula-area residents.
Hazardous Chemicals
Pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, automotive fluids (antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid), cleaning solvents, and any container with a hazardous materials warning label. These require disposal at a permitted hazardous waste facility.
Asbestos Materials
Asbestos-containing floor tiles, pipe insulation, popcorn ceiling material, and roofing felt from pre-1980 structures. Asbestos removal requires a licensed abatement contractor and must not be mixed with general construction debris.
Medical & Biohazard Waste
Needles, syringes, sharps, pharmaceutical waste, and biohazard materials require disposal through a medical waste transporter. California Health and Safety Code governs these materials separately from general solid waste.
Tires
Used tires are regulated separately under California's Waste Tire Program. Tire retailers are required to accept used tires, and Riverside County periodically runs free tire collection events. We cannot accept tires in our loads.
Propane Tanks & Compressed Gas
Full or partially full propane tanks, compressed gas cylinders, and fire extinguishers require specialized handling and cannot be mixed with general junk loads. Empty tanks with valves removed may be accepted — call to confirm.

One of the most common questions we get is whether everything just ends up in a landfill. It does not. Every load our crew hauls gets sorted at our yard before any of it reaches a final destination. Donations
Furniture, appliances, and household goods in usable condition go to local donation partners including Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations and charity thrift operations in the Temecula Valley. Usable clothing, kitchenware, electronics, and toys also get donated. We make the drop-off — you never have to load and drive to a donation center yourself.
Recycling
Metals (steel, aluminum, copper, iron) from appliances, furniture frames, and construction scrap go to scrap recycling processors. Mattresses go to Mattress Recycling Council collection points. Most junk removal companies, including Wild West, cannot legally haul hazardous materials: paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, asbestos-containing materials, medical waste, and compressed gas cylinders. These items require licensed hazardous waste transporters. Tires are also excluded under California's Waste Tire Program. The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources runs free household hazardous waste collection events for residents.
Yes. Heavy furniture removal is one of our core services. We haul sectionals, sleeper sofas, solid-wood dressers, hutches, pool tables, pianos, and anything else that most people cannot move on their own. Our crew brings straps, blankets, and dollies and handles all the lifting, including items on second or third floors, in tight hallways, and through narrow doorways. Loads that require carrying items up or down stairs carry a stair surcharge, and we confirm it with you on site before anyone picks anything up.
Yes, when stairs are part of the carry. A stair carry adds $150 on loads up to one-half truck load and $300 on loads over one-half truck load. Appliances are $30 each and mattresses are $15 each. A full load includes up to one hour of loading time with a two-person crew, and past that hour additional loading runs $75 per hour, per crew member. Every surcharge is quoted on site before we start.
Yes. We dismantle hot tubs on-site, section the shell into trailer-sized pieces, and haul the entire unit, shell, motor, plumbing, and skirt, in a single trip. You do not need to drain it, disconnect it, or prep it in any way. Our hot tub removal page has full pricing and process details.
Yes. We haul drywall, lumber, plywood, tile, concrete, brick, roofing shingles, flooring, stucco, and general demolition debris. We work with both homeowners doing DIY renovations and licensed contractors running larger projects. Recurring job-site pickups are available for active renovation sites in Temecula, Murrieta, and surrounding cities.
Yes. We remove refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, water heaters, and window AC units. Refrigerant-containing appliances are routed to facilities with certified technicians for proper refrigerant recovery in compliance with EPA Section 608. Metals from all appliances go to scrap recycling. Appliances carry a $30 per-unit surcharge that covers that handling.
Yes. We haul TVs, monitors, computers, laptops, printers, servers, and general e-waste. All electronics we collect get routed to certified e-waste recycling processors in compliance with California's Electronic Waste Recycling Act. CRT televisions contain lead and mercury and are illegal to dump in standard landfills, so we handle them properly.
Yes. We take all mattress sizes from twin through California king, plus box springs, futons, mattress toppers, and adjustable bed bases. Mattresses get routed to Mattress Recycling Council collection points where steel springs, foam, cotton, and wood are separated for recycling under California's SB 254 mattress recovery program. Mattresses carry a $15 per-unit surcharge covering the state recycling fee.
Yes. We haul tree branches, brush, palm fronds, leaves, dead shrubs, sod, soil, railroad ties, landscape timbers, and general green waste. Yard waste goes to composting and mulching facilities rather than the landfill. This service is especially useful when your load exceeds what fits in your green barrel and your two free annual bulky pickups through CR&R are already used up.
