The Short Version
One Truck Takes Almost Everything
Clear out a Redhawk garage or a Wolf Creek rental and you end up staring at a pile that is ninety percent haulable and ten percent complicated: the couch and the dead treadmill go on the truck in minutes, but the half-can of oil-based primer, the car battery, and the four bald tires do not. That split is not a company policy. It is state and federal law, and it applies to every licensed hauler in Riverside County.
Weston Molitor has been running loads out of Temecula, Murrieta, and Menifee since 2021, and the first question on nearly every call is the same one: will you take this? Why the limits?
Under California's universal and hazardous waste rules and federal transport regulations, a standard junk truck cannot legally carry hazardous, medical or explosive waste. Separately, filling a truck with concrete or soil blows past both truck and landfill weight limits. In every case the fix is the same: those items go to a facility built to handle them, and everything else rides with us.
Where to Dump It
Where the Restricted Items Actually Go
Before you load anything into the car, you have three good local options. Check the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources site for the facility nearest you, look up routine-waste guidance for your specific item, or call the City of Murrieta Environmental Programs line if you are on that side of the valley. Ask two things: whether they accept your material, and when the next household hazardous waste or ABOP collection event runs. Riverside County holds those events around the region throughout the year.
Confirm before you drive. County landfill hours, fees and accepted materials change seasonally, and not every site takes every material. Lamb Canyon near Beaumont is generally the closest active county landfill to the Temecula Valley, but check rcwaste.org for the current list and the site nearest your address before you load up.

The Tricky Ones, Handled One at a Time
Tires
California charges a recycling fee on every new tire sold, and that fee funds free and low-cost drop-off across the state. You have already paid for the disposal, so there is rarely a reason to leave tires sitting in the side yard. Take them to a tire or specialty recycling facility, a tire retail store, an auto shop, or a landfill that accepts used tires.
The CalRecycle waste tire program maintains a directory of facilities. Retail stores sometimes charge a small per-tire fee on top.
Paint and Paint Cans
California residents and businesses can recycle leftover paint, empty paint cans and spray cans free of charge at participating paint retailers through PaintCare. Both latex and oil-based paint are accepted.
If there is no participating store near you, unused paint of either type is also accepted at a county household hazardous waste collection event. What you cannot do is put it in the trash, pour it down a drain, or hand it to a junk truck.

If a job is mostly haulable junk with two or three restricted items mixed in, pull those pieces out and stack them by the garage door. We take everything else in one trip, and you are left with a single small drop-off instead of a rented truck and a lost Saturday.

What We Take and Where to Dump It — FAQ
No. Oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals and similar materials are classed as household hazardous waste under California's universal waste rules, and a junk truck is not permitted to transport them. Take paint to a PaintCare drop-off store, and take the rest to a Riverside County household hazardous waste collection event, which is free for residents.
Tires are one of the few things we usually cannot take, or can only take for an added fee, because California regulates waste tire hauling separately. The easy route is a tire shop, an auto shop, or a CalRecycle-listed recycling facility. Most are free or low cost because the recycling fee was already paid when the tire was bought.
Both go to Riverside County's ABOP program, which stands for antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint, or to a household hazardous waste collection day. There is no charge for residents. Many auto parts retailers also accept used batteries and used oil over the counter.

Small amounts mixed into a normal load, usually yes. Large quantities of inert debris blow past truck and landfill weight limits, so heavy concrete, soil and rock jobs go to an inert debris facility that bills by the ton. Call us with what you have and we will point you to the right one.

That is the normal case, and it is what we are set up for. We clear the entire home, garage or unit in one visit, set the restricted pieces aside where you can see them, and hand you a short list of exactly where those few items need to go.
Because the two are regulated differently. Bulky household goods are ordinary solid waste. Paint, fuel, pesticides and pool chemicals are hazardous waste, and hauling them requires permits and a licensed disposal chain that a general junk removal truck does not carry. The rule protects the crew, the landfill and the groundwater.
