How a Junk Removal Job Actually Runs
Most people have never hired a hauler before, so the process feels opaque. It isn't. There are six steps, and you can see the price before anyone touches anything.

You describe the job
Call or text (951) 837-8072 and tell us what you have — a couch and a mattress, a garage, a whole house. Photos help more than descriptions do. Texting a few pictures of the pile gets you a closer number than five minutes of talking about it.

We give you a volume estimate
We price by how much space your items take up in the trailer, not by the item. From photos we can usually tell you which load size you're looking at before we drive out. That estimate is a range until we see it in person.

You pick a window
We run Monday through Saturday, 7AM to 7PM. Same-day and next-day slots exist when the schedule has room, and morning calls have a much better chance of landing a same-day slot than afternoon ones.

We confirm the price on site
The crew walks the job, looks at the actual pile, and gives you a firm number before loading starts. If it's bigger than the photos suggested, you hear that then — not on the invoice. You can say no at that point and owe nothing.

We load and haul
A two-person crew does the lifting, including from inside the house, upstairs, the side yard or a storage unit. You don't need to drag anything to the curb, though it does save you money if you already have.

We sweep and you pay
We broom the area, you look it over, and you pay the agreed number. Then the load gets sorted — donation, recycling, transfer station — which is the part most customers never see.
The on-site confirmation is the step that separates honest volume pricing from a bait quote. Any hauler can say a number on the phone. What matters is whether the number changes after the truck is loaded and leverage has shifted. Ours is agreed before a single item goes in.

What We Take — and the Short List We Can't
The general rule is simple: if two people can carry it and it isn't legally hazardous, it goes in the trailer. That covers the overwhelming majority of what comes out of a house, garage, office or rental turnover.
Furniture
Couches, sectionals, recliners, bed frames, dressers, dining sets, desks, office chairs, patio furniture. Furniture removal details.
Appliances
Washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, water heaters, refrigerators and freezers. Refrigerant units carry a separate fee and disposal stream. Refrigerator removal.
Mattresses
Any size, any condition. California runs a dedicated mattress recycling stream, so these do not simply go in a hole. Mattress disposal.
Electronics
TVs, monitors, computers, printers, stereo equipment. Covered e-waste is regulated in California and goes to certified processing. E-waste handling.
Yard & construction debris

What no junk removal company in California can legally take. Paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, pool chemicals, automotive and household batteries, tires, propane tanks, medical sharps, ammunition, and asbestos-containing material. These are household hazardous waste and require a permitted facility. Riverside County runs free HHW drop-off for residents — check current locations and event dates at rivcoeh.org.
We also do not perform asbestos or lead abatement. If a pre-1978 property is involved in a demolition or renovation cleanout, that testing and abatement happens before we arrive.

We price by volume: how much of the trailer your items fill. Not by the hour, not by the item, not by the pound. Labor, fuel, sorting and disposal fees are inside the number below — there is no separate dump fee added at the end.

What can change the price
- Stairs
- $150 on loads up to one-half truck load, $300 on loads over one-half truck load, for carrying items up or down stairs. Tell us the floor level when you call and the figure goes in your written estimate.
- Appliances
- $30 each. Covers refrigerant handling and the separate disposal stream refrigerators, freezers and AC units legally require.
- Mattresses
- $15 each, any size.
- Extra loading time
- A full load includes one hour of loading. Beyond that hour, $75 per hour per crew member.
- What a full load means
- 12 cubic yards in a 12ft x 8ft x 4ft dump trailer, loaded by a two-person crew.
What a cubic yard actually looks like
A cubic yard is a cube three feet on every side — 27 cubic feet. It is an abstract unit until you translate it into furniture, so here is the translation people find useful.

Past roughly 12 cubic yards, the cost comparison changes. A multi-day renovation, a full property clear or a roofing tear-off is usually cheaper in a roll-off bin you load at your own pace than in repeated full-service loads. Vetting
How to Tell a Straight Hauler From a Bad One
Junk removal has a low barrier to entry — a truck and a phone number is the whole startup cost. That's why the industry has a reputation problem, and it's why these seven questions are worth asking before you book anyone, including us.
Is the price confirmed before loading? A firm number after a walk-through, before anything moves, is the single most important answer on this list. "We'll see when we're done" is how surprise invoices happen.
Are disposal fees included or added later? Ask directly. Some quotes exclude the landfill or transfer station fee and it appears at the end. Ours is inside the load price.
Are they insured? Crews carry heavy items down stairs and through doorways. Ask for proof of liability coverage, and be wary of anyone who gets defensive about the question.
Do they have a real local address? A physical Temecula address means recourse, licensing and a reputation that has to survive the next customer. Ours is 41713 Niblick Rd, Temecula, CA 92591.
Where does the load actually go? Ask what gets donated, what gets recycled, and which facility takes the rest. A hauler who can't answer may be dumping, and illegal dumping in California is prosecuted under Penal Code 374.3.
What are the surcharges? Stairs, appliances, mattresses and overtime labor are normal charges in this industry. What isn't normal is hearing about them for the first time on the invoice. Get them named up front.
Will you get a receipt? You want documentation of what left the property — for estate work, landlord turnovers, donations and insurance, it matters later even when it doesn't feel like it matters now.

Five Things That Make the Job Faster and Cheaper
None of this is required — we handle jobs exactly as we find them. But each of these shortens the loading window, and loading time is the part of the price you have the most control over.

Group it in one spot
A single pile in the garage or driveway loads dramatically faster than the same volume scattered across four rooms. If you can stage it, stage it.

Clear the path
Unlock gates, move cars off the driveway, prop the side gate open. We need a route from the pile to the trailer that doesn't involve threading a hallway around a parked vehicle.

Separate the keepers
Mark or move anything staying. Painter's tape and a marker prevent the one genuinely bad outcome in this business — something loaded that shouldn't have been.

Pull the hazardous items out
Set aside paint, oil, chemicals, batteries, propane and tires before we arrive. We can't take them, and finding them mid-load stops the clock.

Flag stairs and tight spots
Tell us about second-floor items, a steep side yard or a narrow gate when you call. It goes in the estimate up front instead of becoming a surprise on the invoice.
After the Haul
Where Your Load Actually Goes
The sorting happens after we leave, which is why almost nobody sees it. Every load gets separated into four streams before anything reaches a landfill.
Donation
Furniture, housewares, tools and clothing in usable condition go to local charity partners rather than a hole in the ground.
Recycling
Metal, cardboard, clean wood and some plastics go to material recovery. Metal in particular has real recovery value and should never be landfilled.
Regulated streams
Mattresses go through California's stewardship program and covered electronics go to certified e-waste processing. Both are legally separate from trash.
Landfill
Only what's left after the first three: broken, contaminated or genuinely non-recoverable material. It's the last stop, not the default one.
